Depending on the tour and time of year it is recommended to make reservations at least a week in advance.

For example... Many of the Kealakekua bay snorkel tours will take you to the Captain Cook Monument but only a few let you swim in front of the monument. Some boats have waterslides, others don't but can take you into the sea caves. Some tours will let you swim with dolphins before snorkeling at the Bay. Which is the better tour? It all depends on you and your family. Our agents will help you choose the best tour based on what you want to experience. If swimming with dolphins and snorkeling is what you are looking for we will find a tour the will do both saving you time and money.

Don't like boat rides? Want to do more snorkeling for free? Go to  Kahalu'u Beach Park on Alii Dr. Lots of fish and most times there are even sea turtles swimming around. 

Want to go up to Mauna Kea for stargazing but can't afford to pay $800 for your family of 4. We can set you up in a private charter where they pick you up at your hotel/condo take you up to the summit to watch the sunset, then back down to the visitor center for stargazing and back to the hotel/condo. A 5 hour private tour will cost about $360 for your family of 4. Or you can drive up to the visitor center in your vehicle for free star gazing.

Want to see fishes without getting wet? Choose the Atlantis Submarine or a Glass Bottom Boat tour. Which is better? Well it all depends on the experience you want.

Want to see whales or manta rays? Many tours will offer the experience but not all of them will guarantee a sighting. It's true that they are wild animals and you cannot predict where they will be so we like to recommend companies that offer a guarantee. If you don't see them on your tour they will take you back out again for free based on space availability. With that in mind I'd highly recommend that you do these types of tours early in your vacation just in case you need to use this guarantee you still have time.

Dinner at Kahua Ranch 
This is not your typical dinner and it's definitely not a luau. It's an all you can eat steak dinner with beer and wine. Learn about how the Paniolo's (Hawaiian Cowboys) used to do things on the ranch. Then you have singing and dancing. You learn and practice with a lasso, feed and pet a pig, brand a souvenir, view the stars through their telescope and roast marshmallows for smores with even more singing. It's a fun filled evening you're sure to enjoy. Dinner at Kahua Ranch will make you feel as if you were invited to a family dinner party. They will even pick you up and bring you back (at no extra charge) so you don't have to worry about getting lost or having a designated driver.




Paradise Helicopter Tours 
If you are looking for a more personalized helicopter tour this is the company for you. Their pilots will adjust to weather and island conditions. Each passenger has two-way pilot communication throughout the flight and can ask questions throughout the tour. Mostly window seats and some Hilo tours offer a "doors off" option.

Splashers Ocean Adventures
Excellent snorkel tour to Kealakekua Bay, Swim with dolphins, lunch and explore sea caves. They also offer a Manta Ray Snorkel Tour and a seasonal Whale Watching Tour. If book both tours you get an additional discount. They offer a smaller boat with personalized service.

 



Island Breeze Luau 
This is Kona's only Beachfront Luau and probably the most popular. Winner of the "Best of West Hawaii award since 2000"

Golfing at Makalei is like golfing in air conditioning. It's located on Hualalai at about the 1,800 to 2,850 feet elevation in a forest. It's cool, scenic and has beautiful views of the coast as well as lava tubes, peacocks, wild turkeys and native plants. On a clear day you can see Haleakala on Maui.

Hawaii Laser Tag

Ride the Rim ATV tour
ATV tour on the rim and back side of Waipio Valley, beautiful scenery with local guides from the area to tell you the story and history about the valley. Stop for a refreshing dip in the water at a beautiful waterfall.




SeaQuest - Snorkeling Adventure  
This is more then just a snorkeling adventure as you will get to explore the Sea Caves and Lava Tubes on your way to the snorkel sites. Seasonal Whale Watching tours also available. 

Ocean Encounters - Dolphin Swim and Reef Snorkel, Whale Watching (seasonal) and Manta Snorkel
Swim with the wild spinner dolphins and explore our beautiful coral reefs on the Dolphin Swim and Reef Snorkel. During Whale Season (Dec-Apr) you will be able to see the humpback whales as they enjoy the warm Hawaiian waters with their newborns. In the Evening you can learn about the Manta Rays that live off the Kona Coast and snorkel with them. Body Glove Historic Sunset Dinner Cruise

While there are many fishing boat charters to choose from we recommend Family Fishing Charters because of the outstanding service they provide to their guests. The Captains will work with you and your family to give you the best experience on the water. If you are looking for the "big one" they will take you to areas where they might be hiding. If you "just want to catch something" they will take you to places where you are almost guaranteed to catch a fish. It may not be the "big one" but you will be able to say you caught a fish while fishing in Kona. They welcome all ages. Any charter company can take you fishing but these captains will make sure you have a very memorable/educational experience while out there. They will even filet your catch for you so you can take it back to your condo for dinner.



Fishing from the Beach (shoreline fishing)
Go surf fishing or fly fishing from places only the locals know about and learn to catch fish from the shoreline. It's a completely different experience from fishing on a boat. Your tour guide is a local boy who grew up fishing with his grandfather and diving with his father. He knows about fishing and will take you on a personalized fishing tour.
